Here's a memory tester for those who worked in Traffic Department in the 1980's, and for anyone else serving in the Bermuda Police along with any of these men and women.

In order to help you out we have printed two blow-ups and would suggest that you use the positions on Photos 2 and 3 to list those you recognise.  This should keep you busy for a few minutes!

Quoting Davie Kerr:
Terry, rather than you keep shooting down everyone else's efforts, try contributing something positive for a change.

Editors note - I second that emotion!

Not shooting down anyone/thing.
Just stating facts.
Never mind.
You'll have the last word as usual.
No more comments from me on Ex-Po.
Sholom.

Editors note - You are at it again Terry. Davie Kerr stated a simple fact when he said that Nobby retired in 1981. That is indisputable. He did NOT say that the photo was taken in 1981 but observed that "Datewise I'd go for late 1980 as we're in full blues". Not sure which "facts" you aree stating but it is a simple fact that neither Daveie Kerr nor anyone else has suggested that this photo was taken in 1981. That is the end of this matter.

Date-wise I'd go for late 1980 as we're in full blues, and Nobby would have left by late '81. At a guess, this would be Nobby's last chance to have his pic taken with all the divisions while he was still CoP.

Well if it was "late 80" how could it be "81".
I was in Admin when Leroy left with John Instone and then Penny was COP when he called me all the time and then I went to Marine Section.

Editors note - Terry, nobody is suggesting that this photo was taken in 1981. Davie Kerr notes that Nobby would have left by late 1981. His official leaving date was around October 1981 but he had several months of leave, and I seem to recall that one of his last "official" acts was to promote George Rushe to Sergeant on 1st April. George always used to say Nobby promoted him on "All Fools Day" and the police register confirms that George was indeed promoted on that day. Davie observed that everyone was in full blues and suggests it might have been late 1980.

Please let me know if you can narrow down the date any further. At this point we seem to be agreed that it's either late 1979 or maybe late 1981.

'B' Watch (B for BEST) obviously, along the third row from the front. It would appear we also had to man the Comops room that day to allow all the other watches to be off duty and pose for photos. Andy Hall, George Rushe and maybe Roger J. Sherratt are the obvious persons missing. The two ladies behind Dave Cook are Davida and Esther.
I think it must have been in 1979 as I went on to MCPS later in that year and Pete Shaw had not yet arrived in Traffic.

Editors note - Many thanks Charlie. Several excellent points and it sounds as though this photo was taken in 1979. I have to agree with you regarding "B' Watch standing for "BEST" but then I'm clearly biased. " B" Watch was certainly a very productive watch and a great group of guys to work with. I just couldn't keep up with them in one regard!!!

My apologies for error over Tinker's departure date. He came on same plane as me and I did not think he was here for 10 years. Chalky is Rafael Honore.

Editors note - Thanks Moby. One good thing about photos like this is that they get the memory cells ticking over. Now to find another one to challenge our readers.

Rafael Honore.

Case solved.

Editors note - Agreed. Now the only issue is trying to find an almost excact date for this photo. The person whorecently sent it to us thought at first it was taken in the early 1980's but agrees that it could have been late 1970's, Here's hoping someone out there has a copy with a caption!

Hola, I can remember talking to Tinker about him going to Canada just before I left Traffic to work up the hill, this was early 1980.

Tinker Taylor was still in Bermuda at least through 1980.

Excellent effort by Goat, but I think Chalky was actually Honore and not White. I don't know who christened him Chalky, I think it dated back to his Training School days, but I do know he didn't like it!

Editors note - Thanks Davie. It looks like "Chalky" is the only one in doubt. Can anyone else confirm if it is Honore or White. I recall two "Chalky Whites (although I would prefer not to!) but this isn't one of them.
